Easter

DSC01430

Since Easter fell on General Conf. weekend, we watched conference and then went to the farm for an egg hunt and family dinner with Aunt Perina, the rest of the Hardgrave’s, and the Warden’s.  We didn’t get all dressed up, but we did get this family pic at the farm.

On Good Friday Eli and my Mom and I colored and dyed Easter eggs.  Easter morning Eli had a huge basket full of Bible videos, bath letters & numbers, a Reese's chocolate bunny, fruit snacks, and eggs.  I made a small basket for Cori too, just for the heck of it.  I told Eli I got to eat all her treats since she gets her food from me : )

The farm is the perfect place to hunt eggs.  Aunt Perina has so many pretty flowers.

Cori’s uncles put her in the Easter basket.

After the egg hunt and the yummy food, Eli had a blast playing outside with his Dad, Papa, uncles, and cousins.  We had a great Easter and are very thankful for our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Our Big Boy

Eli is getting to be such a big boy!  He has been sleeping in his “big boy bed” (toddler bed) since March 29th.  It was a pretty smooth transition.  He also used the potty by choice on the 31st, but I think that was kind of a fluke.  He knows all the basic colors and shapes, he can count to 10, say his ABC’s, and almost recite the 1st Article of Faith.  He also plays pretend by himself, speaks in paragraphs, and has learned the art of bargaining.  His favorite color is green, favorite shape is oval, and favorite number is 38 (no idea why).  He is very independent, which is sometimes good and sometimes bad.  He has become more of a two-year-old lately, complete with fits and all.  A lot of the time he is very good with Cori, but he has also thrown things at her a few times.  Aaaa, the ups and downs of a toddler!

Eli got a zoo pass for his birthday, so we wanted to get a zoo trip in before the baby came. We went to the zoo with the Southward clan.  It was a bit chilly, but lots of fun.  Eli rode areal camel with Mazee!  He just jumped right on.  I couldn’t believe he was so brave.

The Fire Truck Party!

DSC01098 DSC01104

When we were trying to decide on a theme for Eli’s birthday party, I was looking at invitations on the internet to get ideas.  I asked him if he liked several of them and he said no.  Then he saw one with a fire truck on it, he pointed at it and said, “I want that fire truck for my birthday party!”  So, I made him a fire truck cake (my Mom helped).  It was my first big cake.  I stayed up till all hours of the night and there were lots of crumbs in the frosting, but Eli loved it anyway so that’s all that counts.  In the picture on the right he is saying two and holding up two fingers.

Grandma and Papa got Eli a tricycle, which he absolutely loves.  We got him a wagon and in this pic he is riding in it with all his other loot.  He got lots of fun things from Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends.

The kids played “stick the balloon an the fire truck” and went for rides in the wagon.

Happy 2nd Birthday Eli!

It is a tradition in my family that you get breakfast in bed on your birthday.  Eli was a little confused at first, but then he loved it.  When he finished his first round of pancakes and asked for more, I asked him if he wanted to sit in his chair.  He said, “No, in my bed.”
