We had a lot of snow this year, including a blizzard that snowed us in for 4 days. The kids didn’t want to get out much, but we did play a little and Derek & I shoveled a lot.
We have been married since March of 2006 and we now have two children, Eli & Cori. Currently Derek is working as an engineer and going to school to finish his degree and Lauren is staying at home with the kids. In 2008, we also became homeowners, so we have now entered the grown-up/DIY stage of our lives.
9-13-11: This one isn't as funny as it is amazing, but I wanted to record it. Eli was sitting on my lap and started asking some questions about my breasts. He said, "So Cori doesn't need these anymore?" I said no and he then asked what they were for now then. I explained to him that they don't make milk right now because Cori doesn't need it anymore, but if I had another baby they would make milk again. Much to my surprise, his response was, "Oh, that's reversible change." Apparently he learned about reversible change on Sid the Science Kid when they talked about water freezing.
8-1-11: Today Eli said that when he grows up he wants to be a motorcycle driver, eye doctor, rock star, missionary.
Spring 2011: Eli made his first joke. We were at the dinner table and Eli grabbed Derek's arm. He said, "Daddy you're hairy. We should call you Harry Potter." He was very proud of himself.
Funny Things Cori Says
Oct. 2012: After General Conference one day I heard Cori chanting Thomas S. Monson, which was cute, but it also reminded me of another name I heard her chanting a while back. I wondered if she remembered, so I asked her, "Hey Cori, who won the Tour de France?" Sure enough, she responded quickly with, "Bradley Wiggins." The tour was in July. Her Daddy was very proud.
July 2012: Instead of spanking with our hand, we've started using a wooden spoon (on the odd occasion that we spank). So, the other day Eli was pretending to be a cheetah and getting all up in Cori's face. I heard her whining at him, then I heard him say owe. I went into the kitchen and saw her holding the wooden spoon from her play kitchen. She held it up and said, "I hit that cheetah with my wooden spoon."
12-1-11: Cori and I were at Dollar Tree while Eli was at nursery school and I was letting Cori push the cart. I stopped to look at something, but Cori kept pushing. There was a lady coming the other direction, so Cori looked at her and said, "Out of my way." That and "My buckle my own self." are two of her favorite sayings right now.
Things I have learned...
Oct. 2012: Don't waste your money on the small mums, they just die. Go big or go home!
2012: The kids will eat pretty much anything if I make it into a smiley face.
2-3-11: I really love cornbread batter. I also think oatmeal cookie dough and cake batter are way better than chocolate chip cookie dough.
11-22-10: The greater number of kids you have, the greater your necessity for slip-on shoes.
11-1-10: Know your audience. Halloween is more fun if people know who you are.
