On December 1st we loaded up our Christmas tree in Daddy’s new truck, and from then on it was non-stop Christmas fun! Oliver, our shelf elf, came to report the kids behavior back to Santa. One day he used an army guy hang glider to fly into the tree. The kids loved finding him each day.
The Santa beards ended up being our Christmas card.
Eli got to ride on the Polar Express at school and one evening we acted out the Nativity with the Southwards.
One night we went to Rheema and Bass Pro Shop, which was lots of fun. The lights were amazing and the kids were super excited to see Santa. Eli asked for legos and a bow & arrow. Cori asked for a polka dot sheet (because hers has a stain on it).
We also had fun making ginger bread houses, treats for the neighbors, and homemade wrapping paper.
The Primary gave all the kids an advent calendar with scriptures to go along with each night, so that helped us all remember to true reason for the season. When I got out the Christmas decorations, the kids were excited to set up the small nativity set on the coffee table. While I was doing some other decorating, they set it up with a small Christmas train around it. Not exactly traditional, but I thought it was cute, so we left it like that. I’m just realizing that I should have taken a picture of that.
